The municipality of Amersfoort disclosed on December 3, 2024, that personal data of 100,000 residents was stolen from an external software supplier. The compromised data includes names, addresses, places of residence, dates of birth, gender, email addresses, and phone numbers. For approximately 7,000 individuals, the Burgerservicenummer (BSN) was also exposed. The data included information dating back to 2009, which should have been deleted according to municipal policy.
