Auchan suffers cyberattack, data of over 500,000 loyalty customers stolen

On November 19, 2024, French retail giant Auchan announced it was the victim of a cyberattack that targeted personal data of over 500,000 customers enrolled in its loyalty program. The stolen data included names, first names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, family composition (if provided), dates of birth, loyalty card numbers, and loyalty pot amounts. Auchan confirmed that banking data, passwords, and loyalty card PINs were not affected. The incident was contained, and the company notified the French data protection authority (CNIL) and affected customers.
